Where did your idea for the company come from?

Prior to starting Sensefinity we were working for Nokia. During our work for the Internet of Things division we conducted multiple customer interviews and came to the conclusion that the thing that was impeding the adoption of the Internet of Things was that most of the time, projects became unviable due to the high integration and development costs. So we concluded that by offering the full stack, we would be able to help people make their projects feasible.

For which kind of audience is your product or service intended and what problem is it solving?

Sensefinity builds a full stack for the Internet of Things, thus enabling fast project delivery for our customer’s IoT ideas. While most projects today are executed by large companies, offering the full stack also enables small and medium-sized enterprises to realize their projects equally, by reducing implementation costs and time.

Tell us a bit about the company’s founders like their professional or industry background and the origins of the founding-idea.

Sensefinity´s founders met at Nokia while working on the development of an Internet of Things platform. The team was then joined by electrical engineers with the appropriate hardware know-how.

Your product is serving a broad variety of industry sectors. In your opinion: which businesses are the ones with the most potential regarding the introduction of IoT technology?

We are still in the infancy of the Internet of Things and we anticipate a similar revolution to the introduction of the PC. Before PCs, only large companies could afford the technology and benefit from computer systems, whereas now we are in a situation where the Internet of Things is starting to become viable for everyone. This will open up endless possibilities. Basically, everyone will have the possibility to integrate their asset data with computer systems and benefit from real-time visibility, process analysis and big data. Smart farming will revolutionize the agriculture industry, small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to better steer their operations, and logistics can implement real-time supply chain solutions.
